Among the many things that Mexico is world famous, is its variety of climates and vegetation; mainly in the southern part of the country. And in this excursion you will see why; On a trip through Cuernavaca and Taxco you will be able to appreciate spectacular road landscapes, full of trees and colorful flowers.
Cuernavaca, the «City of eternal Spring» is our first stop; This city is in a privileged climate that has allowed a great diversity of flora; since time immemorial it has been a place of recreation and relaxation, from the Aztec emperors to the present, which is why Hernan Cortez, The Conqueror, ordered the construction of a palace.
Here we will visit the cathedral, formerly the convent of the Assumption, which is the fifth building dedicated to religious worship and therefore one of the oldest building on the continent; in front of it is the Borda Garden, an old hacienda that at some point was the resting place of the Emperor Maximilian of Hapsburg (in it the first mango trees of the continent were planted). We will also see the Palacio de Cortes.
We will continue to visit one of the treasures of the Sierra Madre: Taxco, «Silver Capital of the World», a colonial city with hundreds of years of history and one of the «magic towns» of the country. It is a picturesque little town, with cobbled streets and narrow, full of silver jewelry workshops. Here there will be time to have lunch where you wish and then we will visit one of the largest churches in Mexico: Santa Prisca, built in 1759 in the baroque style of New Spain and with stones from the area.
Taxco is known worldwide for its silver mines and is one of the oldest mining centers in the continent, with operating mines and a culture of metal crafts that date back to 400 years ago. You will have the opportunity to see and buy silverware in this exclusive place.
